Broughton Plant Hire are proud to sponsor the Tiptree 10 2017 which took place on the 8th October 2017. The Tiptree 10 is a very well organised annual road race with all proceeds being donated to charity. Sponsorship is crucial in ensuring the event meets it’s objective of being the most charitable road race in the region. Essex Mind, Essex Scouts and Marie Curie are just three of the benefactors this year.
This year the event was fully subscribed with more than 400 runners taking part. Broughton Plant Hire would like to congratulate all of them and we hope to continue our support in the years to come.
In our continuing commitment to support the local community, Broughton Plant Hire are proud to announce we have sponsored another youth football team, AFC Walkern, based in Stevenage.
With our support, AFC Walkern (formerly known as the Austen Arrowheads) are able to keep their club subscriptions to a minimum ensuring accessibility to the wider community. AFC Walkern are a grass roots football club offering volunteered coaching and Winter training, charging some of the lowest signing on fees in the area.
We would like to wish Paul Smith and everyone associated with AFC Walkern every success with the up and coming season.
Broughton Plant Hire are proud to announce their continued support for football in the community by their renewed sponsorship of Maldon Saints Youth Football Club for the 2017/18 season. Sporting their new away kit, the under 14’s kicked off their season in some style, winning 6-0 away in their opening fixture.
We would like to offer our congratulations to the Manager and all the players on this fantastic result and wish them every success for the rest of the season. We hope the team’s results continue to be positive so they can mount a serious challenge for silverware this campaign.
Broughton Plant Hire are pleased to announce the addition of our new truck to our commercial vehicle fleet. The 18T Mercedes Benz truck which has just been delivered is our first of this size to be added to our fleet. It will be mainly utilised in the transportation of our low level and powered access division.
This new addition is a testament to Broughton Plant Hire’s growth in the low level/powered access market in the last 12 months. It also demonstrates our commitment to continually invest, improve and grow our commercial vehicle fleet.
Broughton Plant Hire is proud to support the Matt Hampson Foundation Get Busy Living! Centre in Melton Mowbray. The foundation has been set up to support its beneficiaries following a catastrophic injury through sport. The new centre, which is currently being constructed, will be a place for specialist companies to exhibit state-of-the-art-equipment and technology. The foundation hopes to offer its beneficiaries the chance to sample these without having to endure the astronomical costs of specialist equipment. The new centre will also offer a useful insight in to what it is like living with a catastrophic sporting injury.
Broughton Plant Hire are always looking for ways to support the local community and one of our customers, Derry Building Services, are one of the contractors helping to build the new centre. We have supplied access equipment from our Alfreton depot to them free of charge whilst they work on the project. We hope to offer our support to Derry Building Services throughout the remainder of the project and look forward to seeing the centre once completed.

Top Safety Accreditation for Broughton Plant Hire & Sales.
Local business Broughton Plant Hire & Sales has been awarded accreditation from Alcumus SafeContractor for achieving excellence in health and safety in the workplace.
Alcumus SafeContractor is a leading third party accreditation scheme which recognises extremely rigorous standards in health and safety management amongst contractors. It is used by thousands of organisations in the UK including SMEs and FTSE 100 companies.
Employing over 70 people, Broughton Plant Hire & Sales is principally involved in the Tool Hire sector, specialising in the heating, ventilation and fire protection industries.
The company’s application for SafeContractor accreditation was driven by the need for a uniform standard across the business. SafeContractor accreditation will enhance the company’s ability to win new contracts, and its commitment to safety will be viewed positively by its insurers when the company liability policy is up for renewal.
Gemma Archibald, Director of Alcumus SafeContractor said: “Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place.”
“More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Broughton Plant Hire has done. The firm’s high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector. SafeContractor plays a vital role in supporting our clients in meeting their compliance needs, whilst working with their contractors as they progress through the accreditation process.”
Broughton Plant Hire & Sales have received some important technical information. It appears that Geberit/Novopress are concerned that adaptor jaws with the designation “ZB321/ZB322” may have reached the end of their service life. The adaptors concerned were manufactured between 2001 and 2007 and in RARE instances these adaptors could break. Broughton Plant Hire & Sales are actively removing any affected adaptors from the fleet and replacing them with the new style ZB323 and ZB324 adaptors. However, if any of our customers are hiring a ZB321 adaptor with a serial number between 101 – 5228 or a ZB322 adaptor with a serial number between 101 -2978 please contact our hire desk and we can arrange for this to be exchanged ASAP.
Rest assured that only the adaptors mentioned above are affected. For all adaptor jaws manufactured from 2008 onwards this risk is ruled out as far as Geberit/Novopress are concerned due to technical modifications made to the adaptors.
If you have any questions you wish to ask please feel free to contact our hire desk to discuss this further.
