FORS Accreditation

For several years Michael Broughton Limited t/a Broughton Plant Hire and Sales have been FORS accredited at both Bronze and Silver standard. The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) is a voluntary accreditation scheme for fleet operators which aims to raise the level of quality within fleet operations and to demonstrate which operators are achieving exemplary levels of best practice in safety, efficiency, and environmental protection.

Becoming a FORS member brings our customers peace of mind our company is managing its work-related road risk (WRRR) and demonstrates to our customers and supply chain our commitment to exceeding the industry standard.

Five key benefits for our business being FORS accredited are:

  1. Standing out from the crowd
Being FORS accredited helps us stand out from our competitors to both our new and existing customers. Being FORS accredited proves our commitment to good practice in all aspects of the business, including road safety, sustainability issues and many other aspects of corporate social responsibility. Compare that to our competitors that are not FORS accredited and its clear who would have an advantage in winning any new business. Would you select a company whose safety record and environmental practices you knew nothing of or one who was FORS registered?
  2. Improved Road Safety Record
Dedicated FORS Professional training equips our Transport Manager and drivers with the skills and knowledge to improve their work-related road safety and to reduce the risk of collisions with other motor vehicles and, crucially, vulnerable road users. Being FORS accredited affords us access to safety specific tools, guides and training courses, that help us to improve our work related road safety.
  3. Reduced Fuel Consumption; Increased Efficiency
FORS Professional provides classroom training and eLearning modules for our Transport Manager and drivers covering environmental best practice. FORS also provides best practice toolkits helping to put our business one step ahead of the competition. Expert advice on the latest technologies and systems have provided us with tangible efficiencies. Dedicated driver training enables us to promote defensive, more economic driving, leading to reduced fuel costs and reducing our Carbon Footprint and environmental impact.
  4. Ensure Compliance
Being a FORS member we have access to FORS Affinity Partner products to help ensure we meet our legal obligations and ensure you remain compliant with the FORS Standard. FORS Fleet Management System delivers a comprehensive platform enabling complete vehicle, driver and organisation management. As fleet operators we have a duty-of-care by law to check our drivers’ competency and capability.
  5. Greater Industry Know-How
With fortnightly eNews, monthly training eNews and a regular magazine, as a FORS member we receive insider knowledge on how the scheme is changing the industry and where potential opportunities lie.

Over the years we have seen so many benefits both for our business and our employees of being FORS accredited and as we continue and grow our operations across the UK so will our dedication to the FORS standard. Our commitment to our customers to help raise the level of quality within fleet operations whilst ensuring best practice in safety, efficiency and environmental protection is why we are currently working hard towards achieving our Gold accreditation.
